OBATALLAH DAI STARRLIGHT

Arrived in 1979 and raised in Watts, California, OBATALLAH DAI STARRLIGHT's vessel was celestially bestowed upon parents of Aboriginal Native of Afrikan decent. One of his parents also carries Cuban heritage, enriching the tapestry of his identity. Until the age of two, both of DAI's parents provided a nurturing home, after which his mother courageously embraced the role of a single parent, instilling resilience and strength in him.
DAI's journey as an artist emerged from a backdrop of systemic racism and trauma that profoundly impacted his psyche. In the face of repeated adversities, he transformed his pain into purpose. Unbeknownst to him at the time, these experiences catalyzed a powerful evolution. Rather than succumbing to despair, DAI chose to transmute his struggles into art, creating a vibrant expression of the change he yearned to see within himself and the world around him.
Through his paintings, DAI STARRLIGHT channels his journey of healing and empowerment, inviting viewers to engage with themes of resilience, identity, and transformation. His work not only reflects his personal evolution but also serves as a beacon of ambition, motivation, and inspiration for others navigating their own paths toward self-discovery and change.
